This summer, I looked into the relationship between resistance and susceptibility to numerous necrotrophic and biotrophic diseases. Research has been done on this topic but not about grape varieties. I was able to find which varieties reacted to different diseases in the lab, but this project will be continuing in order to ensure we have a lot of data. Hopefully, this data can be used in the future to determine how breeders should cross varieties to create the most resistant hybrid variety. I will continue this study for the next semester and I hope to be able to make much stronger links between the two types of disease then.
