The University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for the Director of the Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (CAFE) and the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Agricultural Research and Engagement. The successful candidate will also serve as Director for both UMass Extension and the Massachusetts Agricultural Experiment Station. The position reports to the Dean, College of Natural Sciences and to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement. The position will include an underlying academic appointment as either a tenure system faculty member or Extension faculty. The academic area of the appointment will be in an area jointly with the CAFE.
CAFE is comprised of UMass Extension, the Massachusetts Agricultural Experiment Station, the UMass Cranberry Station, and the Massachusetts Water Resources Research Center. CAFE has made a strategic commitment to a multi-disciplinary approach in which academic research and the resulting scholarship is integrated with educational programs, resources, tools or technologies that meet the needs of citizens, communities, organizations, businesses, government agencies, or policy-makers. Technical Assistant III (Equine Barn Manager)

Oversees the daily operations of the Equine Facilities at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMA) Hadley Farm, including responsibility for the care and feeding of horses and maintenance of the facility. The 4-H Animal Science Specialist provides statewide leadership and guidance on, and has responsibility for, all UMass Extension 4-H Youth Development Animal Science programs. The position is an integral part of the UMass Extension 4-H Youth Development State Leadership team and is supervised by the UMass Extension 4-H Youth Development Program Director. The position manages the risk associated with working with youth ages 5-18, volunteers, small and large livestock, and equine programs and serves as the livestock specialist for 4-H programs and staff.

The Climate Program Associate serves as an integral part of UMass Extension’s Climate Team, supporting climate change initiatives to address the needs of diverse stakeholders, including state and federal agency staff, regional or local government officials, natural resource managers, environmental consultants, community groups, organizations, researchers and Extension staff. This position will work closely with the Climate Adaptation Coordinator to implement programs and establish collaborations to foster adaptation to climate change.

The University of Massachusetts is seeking an experienced scientist, innovative leader and Extension educator to serve in a full-time, 12-month appointment as Extension Associate or Full Professor and Director of the UMass Cranberry Station located in East Wareham, Massachusetts. The Director will provide: 1) vision, support, and coordination in planning, developing and implementing departmental programs in research and extension in accordance with the Land Grant Mission; 2) leadership in recruiting and fostering academic growth and professional development of faculty, staff, and students; 3) administration of human, physical and financial resources; and 4) promotion of external funding opportunities. The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment.
