Jynessa is a research scientist in the Department of Environmental Conservation, based full-time at the Gloucester Marine Station, where she co-leads the sustainable Fisheries and Seafood Program. She works with integrative fisheries sciences and human dimension of fisheries, engaging local communities and fishing industry partners. Jynessa uses participatory research tools to evaluate management strategies and impacts on fisheries and livelihoods, and to inform collaborative initiatives that enhance resource conservation, sustainability, and resilience. Her previous work includes coastal fisheries research in Florida and small-scale fisheries in the Brazilian Amazon.
