East Wareham

October had an above average temperature warmer than the long-term average for the month, above average sunshine hours and below average rainfall.  The temperature averaged 57.8 degrees, 5.1 degrees per day above average for October.  Maximum temperature of 83 degrees was recorded on the 5th; a minimum temperature of 39 degrees was recorded on the 31st. Daytime high temperatures averaged 67.5 degrees; 5.7 degrees higher than the norm.  Evening low temperatures averaged 48.1 degrees, 4.4 degrees above the norm.

Sunshine totaled 56% of the possible sunshine hours, 1 point above the norm.  The Blue Hills observatory had 10 days that had fog and haze and 4 days with no sunshine.  In East Wareham, 12 days in October were clear and the rest were foggy, cloudy, or misty.

Precipitation totaled 2.37; 1.77 inches below the 30-year average and 4.52 inches below this time in 2022.  The largest rainfall came on the 22nd was 0.78 inches.  Measurable rain was recorded on 8 days, 5 days of which had rainfall of 0.10 inches or greater. Year-to-date rainfall for 2023 is 44 inches; 3.17 inches above long-term average for East Wareham and 3.8 inches above rainfall received at this point in 2022.
