Starting this July, there will be some changes to the team running MassEnergyInsight (MEI), the free online energy benchmarking and tracking tool used by public entities across the state.
MassEnergyInsight was developed and has always been administered by the Peregrine Energy Group. Peregrine Energy will continue to manage the project, but two other organizations have been brought in to staff the day-to-day functions.
OptiMiser LLC, will manage the energy data acquisition from investor-owned utilities and the software platform; and the UMass Clean Energy Extension (CEE) will provide user facilitation and support services.
OptiMiser LLC, a team of engineers, building performance specialists and software developers, has been part of the MEI team for the past couple years, primarily working on building energy use intensity functions and weather normalization.
CEE personnel are also no strangers to MEI, as they have been performing energy data analysis and support to municipalities and are familiar with Green Communities initiatives.
Green Communities staff and Peregrine will be working continuously with OptiMiser and CEE to ensure this transition runs as smoothly as possible. The user interface of the tool will not be changing, so while the team behind it has changed, users should not notice any substantive differences.
